Hi, I’m Maria Tran —
I fuse action, storytelling, and social impact to create bold, boundary-breaking work across film, stage, and community spaces.
I’m a Vietnamese-Australian actor, filmmaker, and martial artist whose creative journey spans across film, television, theatre, and community arts. I work both as a multidisciplinary artist—with credits in acting, directing, producing, and action choreography—and as an interdisciplinary artist, constantly blending these worlds together to tell bold, impactful stories.
Whether it’s a feature film like Echo 8, where I combine martial arts with cinematic storytelling and character-driven drama, or a TEDx talk that fuses personal narrative with performance and psychology—I see my art as a way to push boundaries, challenge stereotypes, and spark conversation.
As the founder of Phoenix Eye Films, I champion female-led, culturally-driven filmmaking rooted in community. I’ve worked across Australia, the U.S., and Asia, always drawn to projects that mix genres, voices, and mediums to amplify underrepresented stories.
To me, being an artist isn’t about staying in one lane. It’s about building new roads—fusing disciplines, shifting perspectives, and creating work that hits hard, speaks truth, and makes people feel something.
